TEEN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT ON THE CENTRAL COAST

A 16-year-old faced court today over the alleged sexual assault of a woman on the Central Coast earlier this week.

Around 5pm on Monday, a 33-year-old woman was walking her dog along Elizabeth Bay Drive, Lake Munmorah.

It’s alleged she walked past a man sitting on a log next to the footpath. After she had passed him, the man allegedly approached the woman and sexually assaulted her from behind.

The male fled the scene, and the woman reported the incident to police.

Inquiries led detectives to arrest a 16-year-old male in Lake Munmorah about 1.30pm yesterday. He was later charged with sexual assault, and appeared at children’s court today.
