To basketball and it’s been a great weekend for Hunter teams, with the Maitland and Newcastle men’s sides both beating Illawarra.
Newcastle’s women were also dominant against the Hawks.
The visitors raced out of the blocks, but the Hunters quickly settled into a rhythm.
Sophie Kleeman led all scorers with 28, while Katie-Rae Ebzery returned from national duties to provide 18 points and eight assists.
Her sister Alison had 12 points and 12 rebounds, American import Shannon Novosel had 10 and 10, as Newcastle maintained its unbeaten record.
