BATTERHAM GRANTED BAIL
A Newcastle man, charged with the murder of an alleged home intruder, has been granted bail in Newcastle Court today.
33-year-old Benjamin Batterham (pictured above) is accused of killing Ricky Slater-Dickson on a Hamilton street, in the early hours of Easter Saturday this year.
State prosecutors have so far argued Mr Batterham chased Mr Slater-Dickson 365 metres around the block before holding him down with his forearm around his neck and he later died from a hypoxic brain injury.
Mr Batterham allegedly killed Ricky Slater when he found him on his property in March.
The mother of Ricky Slater-Dickson yelled in court this morning “He’s getting bail? He murdered my son and you’re giving him bail?”.
