FIRIES SHOW FAMILIES HOW IT’S DONE

A group of kids got to see what a real life fire call out looks like at the annual New South Wales Fire and Rescue open day in West Tamworth this morning.
It turned out to be a false alarm, but it DID show visitors the quick response from the crew.
A common kitchen fire was also simulated to talk about safety at home.
“The basic message is if you can safely cover the pot, get out of the kitchen, close the door, call triple zero.”
The day also provides a chance to recruit new fire fighters, and encourage younger generations to think about it as a future career path.
