BOWRAVILLE MURDERS SUBJECT OF RETRIAL BID

A warning to our indigenous viewers this next story contains the names and images of deceased people.

A man, acquitted of murdering two of the three Aboriginal children who went missing at Bowraville 26 years ago, could face court again.

Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione, today forwarded a submission to the state’s Attorney-General, calling for a retrial.

The children – four-year-old Evelyn Greenup and 16-year-olds Colleen Walker and Clinton Speedy-Duroux – disappeared from Bowraville in the space of five months during 1990 and ’91.

Under state law, a retrial is permitted if there is compelling new evidence.
