FUNDING BOOST FOR NSW FARMERS

New South Wales farmers are set to get the bulk of the state government’s $93.2-million drought assistance funding in next week’s budget, to upgrade their machinery.
Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian says a surge in demand from farmers looking to access the government’s low-interest loans to install or upgrade on-farm infrastructure has prompted the $30-million
increase in funding.
The Farm Innovation Fund will get $80-million of the 2016-17 budget allocation for the state’s Drought Strategy.
