  • The Coalition has won the Federal Election – that’s according to senior Liberal Minister Christopher Pyne who called it live on the Today Show this morning. The prime minister has told reporters in Melbourne he’s respecting Australians’ votes by waiting for the election count to be completed before claiming office.
  • Star halfback Kieran Foran has sensationally quit the NRL – walking away from a multi-million dollar contract with the Parramatta Eels. It’s understood Foran has told coach Brad Arthur of his intention to take an indefinite break from rugby league.
  • Animal welfare groups say Greyhound racing was “beyond reform”, following New South Wales and the ACT’s decision to ban the controversial sport. Victoria and Queensland have said they will NOT be following the ban.
  • Police are investigating the death of a woman, after her body was found on train tracks at Lake Macquarie. Emergency services made the discovery just north of the Booragul railway station, at around 6:30 last night.
  • US pop star Taylor Swift has arrived on the Gold Coast and sped off in a waiting car with partner Tom Hiddleston. 35-year-old Hiddleston is preparing for his role in the new movie Thor, being filmed on the coast.
  • A driver in the UK has been fined after modifying his car to look like an ambulance, and driving erratically through heavy traffic. CCTV video shows the white vehicle with flashing lights weaving through a busy tunnel in North East England
  • And New South Wales coach Laurie Daley will tomorrow reveal who will slot in to five-eighth for Origin Game Three – with Jack Bird shaping up as the favourite to pull on the number six jersey.
