WATT SPACE GALLERY TAKES OUT ARCHITECTURE PRIZE
The University of Newcastle’s Watt Space gallery has taken out a prestigious architecture prize.
The Blacket Prize winner was announced at the 2016 Architecture Awards in Sydney, which recognises the most outstanding construction projects in regional NSW.
Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Parfitt believes it’s a testament to the gallery’s role in revitalising the city centre.
“Watt Space gallery is a vital space within our city, as it provides a unique opportunity for emerging artists to showcase their works in a new and innovative environment which has had a profound impact on the city centre,” he said.
The university’s buildings have received the award four times in the past.
