Police have described a woman being struck and killed by a train near Lake Macquarie last night as an accident.
Just after 6 o’clock police believe the 33-year-old entered the tracks at Teralba and began walking south towards Booragal.
It was there she was struck by the commuter train, which at the time was carrying dozens of passengers.
They had to wait onboard for hours while the scene was cleared.
