DAMAGES BILL FROM COFFS HAIL CLIMBS TO $2 MILLION

The State Emergency Service says damage from Saturday’s wild hail storm in Coffs Harbour could top the $2-million mark.
Controller Bill Roffey says the SES responded to more than 350 calls for help just after the storm hit around 1.30pm on Saturday.
He says most of those calls came from residents in the suburbs of Sawtell and Toormina.
Broken roof tiles and sky lights made up most of the damage to homes and buildings, while hundreds of cars also sustained hail damage.
