HIGH LEVELS OF PFOS CONFIRMED IN SUSPECT FOAM
The EPA has confirmed that foam found in Moors Drain near Williamtown last month, DID contain high levels of PFOS.
The environment watchdog says the foam returned such levels of the firefighting chemicals during testing, but that doesn’t mean contamination in the area has increased.
A spokesperson says the presence of a detergent in the drain may have drawn PFOS out of the contaminated ground and surface water.
The findings are consistent with independent testing, commissioned by affected residents.
