RECORDS TUMBLE FOR JANUARY AS RAIN DRENCHES HUNTER AND MID NORTH COAST

January was a very wet month for the New South Wales coast, with records tumbling in some locations.
Nobbys Head in Newcastle had its equal wettest January on record, tied with 1898, recording a mammoth 404 millimetres for the month.
Maitland had its wettest January since 1951, collecting 405mm.
Newcastle and the Hunter have received 40 per cent of their yearly average rainfall in four weeks.
On the mid north coast, Mount Seaview, west of Port Macquarie, recorded a staggering 566 millimetres.
Looking at the remainder of February, longer-term models currently indicate the month is likely to be hotter and drier.
