PUBLIC ASSISTANCE SOUGHT AFTER SALAMANDER BAY HOLD UP

A man is on the run after a hold up near Port Stephens earlier this week.

Around 7:30pm on Thursday, a man armed with a piece of metal entered a store on Soldiers Point Road, Salamander Bay, demanding money from the cash register.

The shop assistant complied, and the man fled on foot. He was last seen on Monkley Avenue, Soldiers Point.

The shop assistant was uninjured.

Police are now trying to locate a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 25 and 30, cleanly shaven, wide nose, with a thin build and approximately 183 cm tall.

He was last seen wearing a black zip up hooded jacket with a West Tigers emblem, dark coloured pants and sunglasses with black metal frames.
