MOTHER AND SON INJURED IN EDGEWORTH BAG SNATCH
A woman and her son have been assaulted, and the woman’s bag stolen, near Newcastle on Friday night.
Just after midnight, the 64-year-old and her 44-year-old son left a tavern on Main Road in Edgeworth.
The pair were walking along along Minmi Road, when a woman approached them and grabbed her handbag, causing her to fall to the ground.
The woman’s son gave chase, when a white 4WD mounted the curb and a person got out of the vehicle and assaulted him.
He was uninjured, while his mother was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Police would like to speak to a man and a woman who may be able to assist them.
The man is described as being about 30-years-old, 170cm tall, with scabs on his face and black hair. He was seen wearing a dark jumper.
The woman is believed to be Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and was seen wearing a black hooded jumper and a black scarf.
