NEWCASTLE AFL STAR NAMED BEST YOUNG PLAYER
Newcastle-bred Sydney Swans star, Isaac Heeney, has been named the AFL Coaches Association’s Best Young Player of 2016.
The 20-year-old was voted by all 18 senior coaches, including Swans coach John Longmire.
Heeney came through the Sydney Swans Academy and has been a standout player in his second year in the league, playing 22 games and kicking 27 goals.
He’s also coming off one of his best performances of the season so far, where he gathered a career-high 32 disposals and a goal in last Saturday’s semi final win against Adelaide.
