- Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has just delivered his first address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York- with a focus on the global migrant crisis.
- Meantime Kevin Rudd, who is also in New York, has hit out at Turnbull over his decision NOT to nominate him for the Role of “UN Secretary-General.” Mr Rudd accused Mr Turnbull of “concocting” the excuse that the former diplomat didn’t have the temperament for the job.
- Officials are calling for calm on the streets of North Carolina, after a night of violent protests in the wake of the fatal shooting of a black man by police. The victim’s daughter says her father was un-armed – a claim the officers dispute.
- And Australia’s paralympic team has arrived home to a heroes welcome in Sydney this morning. They finished their campaign with 81 medals, 22 of them gold and were placed fifth on the medal table.
