UNION WANTS WALLARAH MINE 2 APPROVED

The decade-long debate over the proposed Wallarah No2 Mine at Wyong continues to rage.

This time it is fuelled by the mining union’s latest push for the state government to approve the development.

It says the project will create hundreds of jobs for the region, but an anti-coal group fiercely disputes that claim.

  1. Ian Murray, President of the Norhtern region CFMEU is being misled or does not understand the application processes a mining company has to go through before a mine can proceed. KORES, the Korean mining Giant, has not even done an environmental impact or water study. There has been no data other than hypathetical estimations put forward by KORES because they have very little if any information at hand. Ian Murray is making wild allegations which are unfounded. The mine will not produce the 700 jobs KORES now claim, in fact the figure is more like 70. The WEZ (Warnervale employment zone) is said to provide up to 7000 jobs in clean technology and industry if the mine does not go ahead. If the mine goes ahead, the coal dust will make it unattractive for the developement of the region and we will loose these jobs, our water, our clean air and also loose the beauty of the central coast. SAY NO TO WALLARAH 2.
