UPPER HUNTER BEATS TAMWORTH IN CRICKET’S COUNTRY PLATE

Upper Hunter has beaten Tamworth in the first round of cricket’s Country Plate.
Playing at Scone, the home side batted first, making a steady start to reach two for 94 after 23 overs.
Jake Tegg would do plenty of damage for Upper Hunter, eventually finishing just two runs short of a century.
Tom Wilson brought up a half-century, but fell just one run later.
Josh Davis’s unbeaten 39 helped Upper Hunter to a total of 233.
In reply, Tamworth came up two runs short, with Gary Latham claiming a five-wicket haul.
