THREE MEN CHARGED FOLLOWING POLICE PURSUIT AND CRASH ON THE CENTRAL COAST

Three people have been charged after a stolen vehicle was involved during a police pursuit on the Central Coast on Saturday.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a Volkswagen Golf on Bundaleer Crescent, Empire Bay, at about 3:30pm.

The car was reported stolen from Lisarow on Friday.

Police initated a pursuit after the Voltswagen failed to stop, during the chase a marked police vehicle was allegedly rammed.

Shortly after the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, the Volkswagen and a MG A251 collided on Empire Bay Drive.

The Volkswagen driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered facial injuries and was taken to Gosford Hospital under police guard.

While his passengers, two men – aged 27 and 21 – were arrested at the scene and taken to Gosford Police Station.

The pair were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, they were both refused bail and will appear at Gosford Local Court today.

The driver and sole occupant of the MG, a 71-year-old man, suffered an arm injury and was also taken to Gosford Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

About 2pm yesterday, the 31-year-old man was released from hospital and taken to Gosford Police Station.

He was charged with 10 offences including drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, negligent driving (x2), not give particulars to other driver, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm- escaping pursuit, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle.

The man from The Entrance was refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court today.
