MARKET ORGANISERS PUSH AHEAD WITH CONTROVERSIAL STALLS

Hunter business owners have gone ahead with controversial markets at Thornton for the first time since Maitland Council told them they needed a development application.
Organisers for the popular Sunday Muster say their DA has been submitted, but is yet to be approved, meaning they could be stung with a $6,000 fine.
“We may receive a fine if we continue without council approval. Now may to be is very discretional so it’s really up to council to decide if they’re going to be nice or nasty,” said market organiser Stephanie Mortel.
The application was submitted five weeks ago.
