Marine rescue groups have mobilised on the Central Coast this morning to free a whale calf caught in shark nets.
The young mammal was spotted in nets off Shelly Beach by surfers who noticed a distressed adult female humpback nearby.
Lifeguards and ORCCA went to attend to the whale, but it appears to have freed itself.
