More than 500 motorbike riders set off along the Oxley Highway this morning, in protest of proposed changes to the speed limit between Walcha and Wauchope.
The windy strip of road is an extremely popular route with motorcyclists, who fear lowering the speed limit from 110 kilometres per hour will impact local tourism.
Roads and Maritime Services has put a hold on the proposed change – which could see a drop of up to 30 kilometres an hour in certain parts of the stretch.
