FIRE EMERGENCY: LARGE BLAZE AT KUNDABUNG

On the mid north coast, firefighters are taking advantage of easing conditions as they battle a large blaze north of Port Macquarie.
The Kundabung fire broke containment lines overnight, and is burning in a southerly direction.
Rural Fire Service crews spent today backburning, with extra trucks on standby to protect properties.
“it’s due to go to at least 30 knots about 8pm tonight, so if we can’t get these containment lines in and make sure that fire doesn’t jump those containment lines, we could be in a bit of trouble but hopefully with the hard work this afternoon, we should be able to contain that fire,” Fire & Rescue NSW Inspector Phil Sheedy said.
The blaze closed the Pacific Highway for a short time this morning.
