FIREFIGHTERS GAIN UPPER HAND IN COOLER TEMPS
Firefighters have gained the upper hand in the Hunter’s bush fire emergencies, thanks to cooler conditions overnight.
The Bucketts Way in Port Stephens and Medowie Road are now open, after bushfire closures.
RFS crews are taking advantage of cooler conditions, performing back burns around the Lone Pine fire, which has now burned through more than 8500 hectares of bush.
The blaze is currently being controlled and stands at Advice level.
Motorists are advised to check with local councils for local road closures.
Further south, the Racecourse Road fire in Cessnock is under control, after burning through more than 1000 hectares.
