FREAK STORMS LASH TAMWORTH

Tamworth residents are tonight mopping up after a number of freak storms battered the region in the past 24 hours.

Hail stones the size of golf balls fell yesterday afternoon, leaving a blanket of white across many backyards.

Another storm swept through Tamworth just before 2 o’clock this afternoon, bringing more than 2 millimetres of rain in less than 10 minutes.

The Bureau of Meterology has issued a severe weather warning for most of the North West, with more heavy rain and potential flash flooding expected for Armidale, Tamworth, Narrabri and Moree.
