JETS YOUTH HOLD ON FOR CRITICAL WIN VERSUS WANDERERS

The Jets Youth survived a scare against Western Sydney to win their season opening encounter, 4-3.

Starting his first game in Jets colours, Chinese import Ma Leilei got Newcastle on the board after just six minutes with a cracking goal.

The Wanderers should have clawed one back, but keeper Noah James made a point blank save.

Newcastle first team members Andy Brennan and Kristian Brymora combined to give the home side a two goal advantage.

Leilei then earned his side a penalty, which was converted by Mitch Cooper to make it three-nil, as Newcastle held on for an important win.
