Plans are already being drawn up to upgrade Tamworth Showground’s harness facility, after being purchased by the state’s racing body.
More stables will be added, with the intention of creating a local training centre to attract more trainers.
The local harness racing club also plans to use the venue to attract different events.
“We can’t just survive on harness racing alone, and the big advantage with this site in its locality in the centre of town.”
