WALLSEND SCORES DERBY WIN IN WPL ROUND ONE

Adamstown has made a winning start to the new Women’s Premier League season, beating Valentine this afternoon, while Merewether accounted for Football Mid North Coast.
Warners Bay belted Thornton, Wallsend beat fellow debutants South Wallsend.
Both sides created early chances, Wallsend going close through Taylah Wilks.
But it was Ashlee Jones who would score the side’s historic first goal in the WPL.
A heavy storm forced the game to be postponed for 20 minutes, but when play resumed the Red Devils went on with the job.
