INVESTIGATION INTO TRANSPORT OF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS WASTE

There’s some reassuring news following an investigation into the removal of waste from the former South Grafton Sewage Treament Plant.
Clarence Valley Council began the multi-million dollar remediation of the site earlier this month, with waste potentially containing asbestos being trucked to Queensland.
The EPA was asked by members of the community to look into whether some of the trucks transporting the waste were sealed correctly.
It concluded that while some weren’t properly sealed, the risk to the community was low.
