Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter is experiencing its worst drought in more than 50 years, and there is still no relief in sight.
The lack of relief is due to the latest blocking high moving in to the Great Australian Bight.
It is set to strengthen, becoming enormous and once again will negate any chance of inland rain relief for much of the nation.
A shower band running along the coastal fringe will move further offshore, meaning the coast will become fine although still cool thanks to south westerly winds.
