An elderly man has allegedly been assaulted by two youths during a break and enter on the mid-north coast this morning.
Around 12:20am, a 70-year-old man has told police he was in the lounge room of his home on Kalimna Close in Taree, when two males broke into the property.
An altercation followed, during which the victim fell to the ground where he was further assaulted.
The intruders then fled with a wallet containing cash and personal cards.
The occupant was treated by paramedics at the scene for lacerations.
The alleged offenders are described as being aged 16 to 17, and were wearing black clothing at the time.
