PM TAKES TO SOCIAL MEDIA TO CRITICISE BYRON SHIRE COUNCIL

The tourist centre of the north coast has already attracted the attention of the newly appointed prime minister.

Scott Morrison took to social media today to criticise Byron Shire Council’s vote to move the date of their Australia Day celebrations.

He described the decision to move the council ceremony to the evening before as ‘indulgent self-loathing,’ saying ‘we should not rewrite our history’.

Council voted on the matter last week.
