DEEPWATER WOMAN JAILED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY

A 69-year-old Deepwater woman will spend one month behind bars, after pleading guilty to 19 animal cruelty charges.
In May 2015, RSPCA inspectors and police searched a property belonging to Valerie Elizabeth Hicks at Glenn Innes.
43 cats and 31 dogs were found in the three bedroom property, living in horrendous conditions.
Hicks was also fined $19,000 – she’s also not allowed to own more than one dog for the next five years.
