NEW NJC TRACK PASSES ITS FIRST TRIAL WITH FLYING COLOURS

The Newcastle Jockey Club’s $11-million new track has passed its first real test, hosting four trials this morning.
Despite more than 30 mills of rain overnight, club officials, trainers and jockeys say the course proper held up perfectly.
The Kris Lees trained Group One winner Le Romain was right at home in trial three.
“Took a narrow lead from Conchita, starting to pull clear the group one winner. Le Romain won it by a length and a quarter.”
The track’s next test will be four races at a meeting on February 7.
