KNIGHTS RUN ENDED BY MELBOURNE

In the Auckland Nines, and the Knights lost to the Storm this morning, to miss the quarter finals for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Newcastle made a bright start, Brock Lamb and Nathan Ross helping put the Knights in front.
The Storm hit back almost immediately to level the scores, then Cameron Munster embarrassed Newcastle’s central defenders to hit the lead.
Brodie Croft made it 16-4 after the break, before Cory Denniss got the Knights back in the game in the dying stages.
But Melbourne forward Tim Glasby killed off the contest with a try on fulltime.
