A police officer will face court later this month, accused of sexually assaulting a child eight years ago.
It’s alleged the Senior Constable – who is attached to a command in the northern region – sexually and indecently assaulted a nine-year-old girl on the Central Coast in 2009.
An investigation by the Professional Standards Command began last year, after a report was made to police.
Today the 48-year-old officer was arrested at Newcastle Police Station and charged with several offences including sexual intercourse with a person under 10.
He’s been granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court on February 23.
