Surfest organisers this morning paid the ultimate compliment to NBN News cameraman Michael Rauch who passed away earlier this week after a battle with cancer.
A minute’s silence was held in Michael’s honour, prior to the day’s first heat at Merewether.
Michael who liked a surf himself, spent many an hour shooting Surfest pictures for NBN News, since the event’s inception. He loved the event and had collected every Surfest shirt over the years.
Michael’s wife Bronwyn and boys Nick and Dan were joined by members of the NBN family, for the tribute.
