WOMAN TO FACE COURT AFTER POLICE OFFICER HIT WITH MOP
A 41-year-old woman will face a Coffs Harbour court today, accused of hitting a police officer in the head with a mop.
It’s alleged police were called to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus emergency department at about 7 yesterday morning, after reports a patient had become aggressive and abusive towards staff and other patients.
A female officer attempted to negotiate with the woman, who had entered a cleaners room, when she was struck on the forehead, causing a laceration.
The woman was later detained by other officers and sedated by nursing staff.
The accused was conveyed to Coffs Harbour Police Station where she was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting an officer and common assault.
