Construction of a new dog park in Lake Macqurie will commence in the coming weeks as part of the Speers Point Park Master Plan.
Along with new lighting, shelters, barbecues, and amenities, construction will also realign the existing shared pathway.
The fenced dog park will be located between Walters Park and Cockle Creek.
During construction, the majority of the park will remain open to the public, and is anticipated to be completed by late 2017.
The region is home to the Lake Macquarie Festival, Carols by Candlelight and the Living Smart Festival.
