LE ROMAIN PREPARES TO TAKE ON THE BEST

Multiple Group 1 winner Le Romain completed a serious gallop at Broadmeadow before sunrise this morning, as it prepares to take on the all-conquering Winx at Rosehill on Saturday, in the $1-million George Ryder Stakes.
Trainer Kris Lees isn’t expecting a miracle, but says the gelding has earned a shot at Winx, following its Canterbury Stakes victory at Randwick.
Tomorrow, Lees will be one of three Hunter trainers sending runners to the Provincial Championship heat at Gosford.
He believes Twist Tops and Raido can be effective on a heavy track.
Unfortunately for local racing fans, Lees has confirmed Sense of Occasion won’t run in Friday’s Group Three Newmarket Handicap, and will instead be prepared for the Doncaster in two weeks.
