Marine Rescue has praised a surf lifesaver who paddled 700 meters to rescue a struggling kayaker on the mid-north coast.
Bystanders notified Marine Rescue and the Surf Lifesavers after they saw the man waving for help off Main Beach at Woolgoolga Headland.
Marine Rescue says the kayak capsized when the man was pulling anchor.
A surf lifesaver paddled out to the man, and towed the craft back to land.
The kayaker was exhausted, but there were no reports of injuries.
