NATIONAL SERVICEMEN HONOURED THIS WEEKEND
The National Servicemen Association will mark its 66th anniversary this weekend, with a memorial service to be held in Tamworth tomorrow.
The event is held to honour those who were conscripted to serve their country, between 1951 and 1972 – some making the ultimate sacrifice.
“I think you have to remember that when national service was introduced, Australia was in the grip of a, I guess a cold war threat.”
The service will start at 5 o’clock at the Marius Street Memorial near the train station.
