11-YEAR-OLD AND AID WORKER AIRLIFTED AFTER GLENROCK FALL
An 11-year-old boy and a man – thought to be a support worker – have been winched to safety after becoming trapped at the base of a waterfall near Newcastle.
It’s thought the pair left a track in the Glenrock State Conservation Area, and were injured after slipping and falling five metres into rock pools below.
Emergency teams located and stabilised the patients – airlifting the boy to hospital suffering hypothermia.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter then made a second trip to winch out the 26-year-old man.
