EXTRA PROTECTION FOR HUNTER BEACH GOERS

There’s an extra level of protection for beach goers in the Hunter and Mid North Coast these school holidays, with helicopter patrols being carried out to look for sharks.
Daily surveillance is taking place along the state’s coastline, including between Stockton and Crowdy Head.
“Monitoring the beach area and providing that safety net for surfers and beach users to get an idea of what is actually in that area, if there’s a potential shark,” said DPI Senior Fisheries Technician.
It’s part of the state government’s $16-million Shark Management Strategy.
