The CEO of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority today announced she was resigning.
Kareena Arthy has opted to take a position as the Deputy Director General of Enterprise Canberra, choosing to stay in the nation’s capital rather than relocate to the New England.
In a statement this afternoon, Ms Arthy said she was pleased with the work she had achieved at the agency.
Also saying now is the right time to appoint a new CEO to lead the charge to Armidale.

“Kareena Arthy has resigned from the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) after over four years with the agency.
This was announced to staff and stakeholders on Friday, 21 April 2017. Ms Arthy’s resignation is effective from 31 May 2017.
Kareena made the difficult decision to leave the APVMA to take up a new opportunity as Deputy Director General in ACT Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate responsible for the functions of Enterprise Canberra.
“I am proud of my achievements as CEO and take great pride in the Agency that we have built. Together we have built a strong Agency that is future focussed, values integrity and provides confidence to farmers, vets and the community that agricultural and veterinary chemicals are safe and effective to use.”
“I’m leaving at a time when the main elements for the relocation to Armidale are in place. It is the right time for a new CEO to be appointed who can lead the APVMA into its next phase in Armidale.”
The future leadership of the APVMA is a matter for the Deputy Prime Minister.”
