DAUGHTER HAILED A HERO AFTER SAVING SERIOUSLY INJURED MOTHER
Police are hailing a 4-year-old girl a hero, after she helped save her seriously injured mother from an ATV crash west of Taree yesterday.
About 1.30pm yesterday, the 35-year-old mother was riding a caged all terrain vehicle along a private driveway off Bakers Creek Road at Bundook.
The woman accidentally drove down a steep slope, losing control and rolling several times before coming to a halt about 100 metres off the road.
Authorities say the mother was pinned by the leg and suffered a fracture and several serious lacerations.
The woman’s 4-year-old daughter saw the crash and ran to her mother, she fell and grazed her face on the way.
She was able to climb down the embankment and tend to her mother before climbing back to the road.
The child ran home and called 000.
Several hours later the woman was released and eventually airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The girl is being cared for by relatives while her father returns from interstate.
