CHARGES LAID OVER ALLEGED MAITLAND POLICE PURSUIT
A man who allegedly led police on a vehicle pursuit before being arrested in bushland in the Hunter Valley is set to face court over the incident.
Officers initially observed a Holden Commodore allegedly speeding along High Street in Maitland shortly after 9pm on Wednesday.
Police say they started a pursuit, that continued onto the New England Highway before coming to an end when the Holden allegedly had a minor collision with a car stopped at a roundabout.
It’s then alleged the driver allegedly ran from the scene, before being arrested in bushland about 2km away.
He was taken to Maitland Hospital and was charged with a number of offences including police pursuit – not stop, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and use unregistered motor vehicle.
