ROBERT SHASHATI FOUND GUILTY OF DANGEROUS DRIVING OCCASIONING DEATH
Robert Shashati has been found guilty of dangerous driving occasioning death over a 2015 crash which claimed the life of his nephew.
After retiring for deliberations yesterday, the jury delivered its guilty verdict this afternoon.
38-year-old Shashati was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the crash which claimed the life of seven-year-old Marcus.
During the trial, the court heard from witnesses, who said they saw Shashati weaving in and out of traffic, moments before the incident.
Throughout the trial the jury heard the main issue to consider was whether Shashati was “very substantially impaired” by the level of methamphetamine in his system.
His barrister told the court Shashati’s driving prior to the crash wasn’t “indicative of stimulant intoxication.”
And also to our amazing legal team who fought till the end. Marcus thanks you and we do too.
