MAN TO FACE COURT AFTER IMPERSONATING POLICE OFFICER
A man has been charged after he allegedly tried to impersonate a police officer and force his way into separate Birmingham Gardens addresses last month.
About 3am on Friday 21 April, two men woke up after they heard someone knocking on the door of their King Street unit.
A man in a suit was at the door and allegedly told them he was a police officer, asked to check their passports and entered the unit.
The man then went to a nearby house in King Street, again waking up the residents and allegedly announcing he was a police officer.
He asked to enter the home but was turned away.
Yesterday, a 21-year-old man handed himself into the Mudgee Police Station.
He’s been charged and refused bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court on 25 May 2107.
