WORK DELAYED ON COFFS HARBOUR’S NORTH WALL

It’s well past the expected completion date for the $15-million upgrade of the Northern Breakwall at the Coffs Harbour Marina
but machines continue to sit idle because of a shortage of suitable rock.
Local MP Andrew Fraser says there’s no new timeline for the completion of the project – which was supposed to have been finished by the middle of this year.
Mr Fraser says it’s a waiting game to access the right rock material for the base of the wall.
“I think the competition comes from the Pacific Highway, something we need done, and getting those large rocks, they can only come out of certain quarries and with certain blasting methods.”
It’s unlikely the state government funded project will be completed this year.
